Did you know that blue laws once made sipping ice cream sodas illegal on Sunday? Crazy, huh? In the late 1800s, the ban on Sunday soda sales was awful for root beer float fans! These laws that prohibited any kind "sinful" activity on Sunday, including ice cream sodas at pharmacy counters. The creative pharmacists (called druggists in those days) found another way to sell ice cream to their customers on hot Sunday afternoons. Instead of soda, they began to serve ice cream in bowls covered with chocolate sauce! And the beloved Sundae was born! Today, we have many more options than the humble chocolate sauce. We have fresh fruits, cookie crumbles, caramel, candy, strawberry and butterscotch sauces, fresh whipped cream and the cheery cherry on top! We will include any of your favorites on your custom designed ice cream sundae bar.
